DMC University Laboratories (DMCUL) is a regional, integrated laboratory system providing services to the eight hospitals of Detroit Medical Center. DMC University Laboratories evolved in 1993 and is comprised of Core Laboratories, Specialty Laboratories, two rapid response hospital laboratories, Centralized Stat Lab, Centralized Blood Bank Lab, and full service outreach infrastructure which includes patient service centers, remote ambulatory laboratories, marketing staff, courier system and billing department. The DMC University Laboratories service area covers the entire Southeast Michigan market, and is growing at a rapid pace with the following outstanding features: Test menu of over 1,000 tests, which includes high end specialty tests. Less than 1% of our tests are sent to outside reference laboratories. Provide reference laboratory services to many of the other healthcare systems in Southeastern Michigan and several out of state facilities.
Description:
Under close supervision, performs routine clinical laboratory tests of a repetitive nature and typically limited to one laboratory section.
Performs routine qualitative and quantitative clinical laboratory tests of repetitive nature on patient specimens following appropriate methodologies and established policies and procedures.
Prepares and maintains accurate records of specimens received in the laboratory. May prepare media, stains, reagent and other solutions used in performing laboratory tests.
Analyzes test results; relays results to physicians and other authorized personnel.
Records tests results and reviews for accuracy and conformance to established quality control parameters.
Utilizes, calibrates and maintains automated, non-automated and computerized laboratory equipment; performs quality control checks on equipment. Obtains specimens from patients such as blood and transports to laboratory.
Selects, uses, cleans and maintains equipment for utilization.
Complies with established administrative lab policies and procedures.
Maintains compliance with requirements of lab safety, OSHA accreditation and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:
1. Currently enrolled in a Accredited Medical Technology Program.
