Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a PRN Medical Technologist in Microbiology to join our Galveston, Texas team.
Job Overview:The Medical Technologist (Microbiology) processes patient specimens for bacterial and mycotic growth for identification and antibiotic susceptibility according to approved microbiology laboratory standards. Responsible for assisting the Laboratory Manager with the planning of the daily activities of the Microbiology section of Clinical Laboratory Services department.
**This is a PRN position. Hours vary depending upon need and can range from weekdays from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. and weekends 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Responsibilities:- Performs and understands all testing procedures and protocols offered in the scope of service of the hospital's Microbiology Lab
- Performs quality control testing in all areas according to lab protocols
- Maintains competency in specified area of laboratory services
- Performs record keeping tasks

Qualifications:Required Education
- Bachelor of Medical Technology, CLS or Science required
Required Experience
- 1 year Clinical Laboratory required
- Microbiology experience preferred
Required Certifications/Licensures
- MLT (ASCP), CLS or Equivalent certification required
- Med. Tech license in state of practice required
