Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department’s policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care. Assists in covering other shifts when necessary
Additional Job Description
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience in the medical laboratory to equal 2 years. Must meet qualification requirements for testing personnel set forth in Title 42, Sec. 493.1489
Licenses/Certificates: MT (ASCP) or equivalent, and MLT (ASCP) must be obtained within 1 year of hire date, Basic Life Safety (BLS)
