THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Membership Accountant will be responsible for Moonlight Basin’s Accounts Receivable compliance procedures, while playing a vital supporting role in the Club’s various Record-to-Report, Order-to-Cash, and Procure-to-Pay processes. They will help ensure timely and accurate membership account ledgers, cash collections and overall internal financial reporting. This position will be the core liaison between the finance department and our Club’s individual membership, playing a key customer service role within the organization and collaborating cross-functionally to provide insight and resolution to membership inquiries. The Membership Accountant will also help ensure the general ledger is compliant with US GAAP, managing month-end general ledger close and account reconciliation procedures.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Manage a central membership accounting email account and phone line, serving as a main financial and customer service point of contact for existing and new membership.
- Coordinate, finalize and distribute timely and accurate monthly member account statements, showcasing account charges and related balances owed.
- Manage payment collections procedures, tracking balances against Accounts Receivable totals and following-up timely to prevent aged balances.
- Collaborate with other Moonlight Basin departments to understand and resolve member account charge disputes.
- Analyze and understand the Club’s cash balances to ensure best cash management procedures.
- Subject matter expert in the Jonas point-of-sale software functionality
- Help manage and refine the daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger close procedures, ensuring complete and timely US GAAP-compliant monthly financial statements
- Conduct monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations, effectively clearing reconciling items
- Enforce and enhance the Club’s internal controls to ensure accurate financial reports
- Collaborate with both internal and external auditors to complete timely audits and refine accounting procedures after audit findings are shared
- Support annual financial budget and routine financial forecast preparation by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data
- Coordinate with finance and cross-functional teams to align on best financial practices
- Provide ad hoc general ledger and project support, working to grow financial modeling skills
KEYS TO SUCCESS:
- Preferred to have bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, customer service management, human resources or business administration
- Preferred to have 2+ years of Accounts Receivable management or similar business-related experience
- Compelling verbal and written communication skills, with outgoing desire to build member and team relationships, while understanding and improving collective process
- People-focused, customer-service oriented, self-motivated, analytical and organized to understand and solve problems
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel and Word
- Jonas point-of-sale software experience is a plus
