Requirements Education

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, nursing, or therapeutic recreation or at least 5 years direct resident experience; Master’s Degree, strongly preferred. Professional Experience:
• At least three to five (3-5) years of healthcare experience
• At least Two (2) years of geriatric care experience Certification/Licensure: • Expertise in Alzheimer’s and related dementias to meet State license requirements

Job Description and Duties 

To develop, Coordinate and implement programs and services for the residents with cognitive impairment; to provide a therapeutic environment that maintains each resident’s highest level of physical, social, and psychological well-being. Reports Directly to the Administrator.

• Coordinates the development of the unit objectives, policies, and procedures. 

• Participates in the hiring, scheduling, and supervising of the primary care aides. .

• Provide in-service and all continuing education for employees, family members and volunteers regarding the resident’s disease process, behaviors, techniques, and approaches.

• Pursues educational development in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

• Coordinates, with team members, the development of the 24-hour plan for the residents and quarterly updates in the progress notes. Assures delivery of service for each resident according to his or her 24-hour plan.
