We are a non-profit long term care facility that offers independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care. SUMMARY
The Memory Care Enrichment Assistant will collaborate with the Vitality and Well-being team to design, create, and implement multi-dimensional programming that meets residents' needs, wants, and goals. The MCEA will lead or assist in the execution of the daily designed programming for residents on the Memory Support Living Area. Evenings, weekends and/or some holidays will be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assists and supports the Vitality and Well-Being Department with the planning and implementation of a multi-dimensional wellness program on the Memory Support Living Area. Some evenings, weekends and holidays. This includes, but is not limited to, offerings and opportunities that meet the emotional, environmental, intellectual, musical, nutritional, physical, social, spiritual, and vocational, needs, wants, and goals of the residents.
- Leads programming based on individual interests and strengths for residents on the memory support living
- Maintains the ability to evaluate level of resident engagement during programs or events and communicates to Recreational Manager opinions, insights, and research to make necessary changes.
- Completes recommended or required cross training sessions or meetings
- Assists with meal set-up and overall dining experience.
- Is aware of residents' physical and dietary limitations to the best of their abilities through communication and insight from the Nursing Staff
- Helps to ensure the community is prepared for holidays and special events with décor and appropriate supplies.
- Remains on the alert for conditions that may interfere with the safety and well-being of residents.
Hours
- Saturday and Sunday up to ten hours each day
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Must have a high school degree or GED.
- Prefer a two or four year degree in recreation, wellness, art
- Prefer 1-2 years of experience in a long term care, assisted living, or adult day setting working with individuals with dementia.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of their job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, walk, climb stairs, balance and may be asked to provide support for a resident with mobility limitations.
