MEO Repairman Position Title: MEO Repairman Department: DPW / Flood
Control Employment Status: UFCW Laborers, Non-Exempt; Full-Time,
Licenses/Certifications: MA CDL Class B Required (Class A Preferred);
Grade 2 Wastewater Operator's License obtained within one (1) year of
hire; Grade 2 Collection System License desired. SUMMARY The City of
Chicopee's Department of Public Works - Flood Division is hiring an MEO
Repairman who is responsible for inspection, operation, and maintenance
of eight (8) Flood Control pump stations of various design and capacity,
and eight (8) miles of levees and flood walls. Performs all work and
tasks according to the City of Chicopee, US Army Corps of Engineers, and
US Environmental Protection Agency requirements and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE Works together with all divisions of the WPC &
DPW. Snow plowing and sanding for all DPW-divisions. Welding, cutting,
changing oil and lubrication of equipment. Building and grounds upkeep.
Mowing of steeply sloped levee system, and storm water
retention/detention basins. Operate various mowing/landscaping equipment
including but not limited to slope mowers, boom mowers, tractors, flail
mowers, grinders, chippers, hand mowers, hand saws, chain saws, York
rake, and all other related ground keeping equipment. Cleans buildings,
washes windows, and empties trash cans. Paints interior and exterior of
buildings including but not limited to walls, railings, and trim. Works
as needed in all DPW divisions as needed, WPC-pump station, collection
system work and coordination between the departments will be required
daily. Operate and maintain combined sewer overflow (CSO)
pumping/treatment facilities as required. Drives truck and loads fallen
tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck and delivers refuse and
residuals to landfill. Operates various vehicles within the DPW as
required including but not limited to dump trucks, roll-off containers
trucks, bobcats etc. Set up crews, schedules, shifts during routine and
emergency flood operations. Required to be on Emergency Standby Response
(beeper), able to respond within 30 minutes of a call. Assists in the
Planning of projects, maintenance, equipment upgrades as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS To be minimally qualified for this position, one must
meet the following criteria: High School Diploma or Equivalent and six
to twelve months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience MA CDL Class B Required (Class A
Preferred) Grade 2 Wastewater Operator's License obtained within one
(1) year of hire. Grade 2 Collection System License desired SCHEDULE &
