Job DescriptionThe Meteorologist is responsible for anchoring, reporting and covering weather related news. This position will report to the Chief Meteorologist.
Responsibilities:
WTMO in Orlando, FL is looking for an experienced, skilled meteorologist to anchor and produce weather segments across all content platforms, including on-air and the station’s website.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Gather and prepare weather information for on-air presentation in the WTMO newscasts and special reports outside of regularly-scheduled newscasts.
- Provide creative ideas to showcase the weather segment in an informative and compelling manner.
- Employ strategy and engagement in social media including sending severe weather alerts/warnings.
- Provide input to newscast producers relating to the weather segments.
- Will need to be available to report for all severe weather situations.
- A minimum of two years’ experience as a TV Meteorologist
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science
- A minimum of two years’ experience using and maintaining software from Barons, WSI, Weather Central or equivalent software.
- Proven experience using forecasting tools including Doppler Radar and Satellite Maps.
- Must be fluent in Spanish (speak, read & write).
- Proven ability to ad-lib effortlessly while under pressure during weather breaking news and during newscasts.
- Able to work a Flexible Schedule and Shifts including mornings and weekends or as needed for severe weather coverage.
- Must be willing to work at the station in Orlando, FL.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
