About the Job
This position is a member of the Data Historian and Metering Team. The Metering Team is responsible for the technical oversight of the Revenue Metering data flow from substation meters to Data Systems and Settlements. This includes monitoring the daily operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the Remote Revenue Meters (RRM) to ensure timely and accurate energy accounting data is provided to GSOC customers and OPC on a time certain basis. The Metering Team supports Member Billing in excess of $200,000,000 annually and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of data as retrieved and translated by GTC- Electronic Maintenance RRM system utilizing GSOC's Meter Data Management System (MDM) software. Also, the Metering Team collaborates across various departments and companies to ensure that proper policies and procedures are in place for daily operation and maintenance of the RRMs. This position analyzes load data for Member Cooperatives from the RRMs and follows-up monthly on load pattern anomalies with Member/Owners, if needed. Compares and analyzes RRM data with data collected by the Energy Control System (ECS). Works in conjunction with Metering Engineers, Control Center Operators, ECS personnel, and Field Technicians to verify data, spot anomalies, and correct errors. Using analytical tools and alternate data sources, provides correlations and/or estimations of load data to account for RRM data that is temporarily or permanently unavailable. Analyzes and verifies changes made to the Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) to determine their impact on meter data collection and processing. Assists in the monthly Member Billing to ensure the revenue metered data integrity and Member Billing is completed within the allotted time period. Provides technical support on the operation of the MV-90 software product to GSOC's Member/Owner Cooperatives. Performs other metering-related duties as assigned by Manager of Data Historian and Metering.
Job Duties:
- Ensures the integrity of interval meter data. Analyzes substation load data. Provides correlations and/or estimates to staff for missing data. Compares retrieved data to other sources and helps identify anomalies. Supports Analysts and Engineers needs for data to bill Member Systems for power usage and balance/settle hourly loads. Proactively seeks opportunities to automate and improve system processes/performance.
- Analyzes and verifies changes made to the Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) to determine their impact on meter data collection and processing. Analyzes load patterns at the substation level and follows-up monthly on load pattern anomalies with Member/Owners with some direction from Manager. Resolves data discrepancy issues.
- Provides backup technical support on the operation of the MV-90 software product to GSOC's Member/Owner Cooperatives.
- Manages and ensures the accurate collection of Member load data and provides editing and estimation services as necessary.
- Performs other duties as directed by Manager of Data Historian and Metering.
- Provides technical support on the operation and security of the Meter Data Management software product.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
Experience:
- Engineer I: Entry level up to 2 years of related experience, utility/metering experience a plus.
- Engineer II: 3 years of related experience utility/metering experience required.
- Senior Engineer: 8 years related experience utility/metering experience required.
- Principal Engineer: 10 years related experience utility/metering experience required.
Equivalent Experience:
- Engineer I: 8 years related experience (utility/metering experience a plus).
- Engineer II: 12 years related experience (utility/metering experience a plus).
- Senior Engineer: 16 years related experience (utility/metering experience a plus).
- Principal Engineer: 18 years related experience (utility/metering experience a plus).
Specialized Skills: Good analytical skills, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Other Database Products, MV-90, PI.
