Position Summary
The Training Manager will design, implements and maintains effective training programs for ECU Health's Revenue Cycle teams, workflows, and applications. This role is also responsible for providing support to others as they develop training for their work groups related to revenue cycle functions. The Training Manager will work closely with operational leaders throughout the revenue cycle to identify educational opportunities and create role specific competencies. The Training Manager will develop, and support learning modules delivered in a variety of formats including in-class instruction and e-learning.
This position will use proven methodologies, including needs analysis, to design, develop, implement, and evaluate system training. Assists in tracking and monitoring of performance of the revenue cycle functions as they pertain to training, user education, and positive patient experience. Establishes positive relationships with administrators and providers as well as revenue cycle department team members to deliver an effective training program to the health system.
Responsibilities
1. Create initial and annual competency assessment for revenue cycle staff, ensuring completion after initial training and annual afterwards.
2. Develop course objectives, content and materials including participant manuals and detailed/annotated facilitator guides; assuring that learning principles are used throughout the organization.
3. Supervise a team of trainers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to enhance training delivery and effectiveness.
4. Collaborate with senior management to identify training needs and ensure alignment with business goals and strategies.
5. Facilitate advanced training sessions and workshops, including leadership training for revenue cycle managers and executives.
6. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies throughout training activities.
7. Manage the training budget, optimize resources, and negotiate contracts with external training providers as needed.
8. Create regular competency exams for all access areas to ensure the staff are following standard workflows and utilizing current resources.
9. Develop workshop evaluation systems including session evaluations and post session assessments that measure on the job changes. Conduct, summarize, and report measures of training effectiveness.
10. Conduct frequent site visits to monitor adherence to standards and provide on-going support.
11. Ensure all EPIC upgrade and enhancements are communicated in a timely manner and provide training when applicable.
12. Attend and participate in EPIC Application taskforces and Revenue Cycle Super User.
13. Develop training and development strategy based on monitoring observations, changes to standards, policies, and procedures.
14. Work with the trainer to train, orient and competency assess staff to ensure their proficiency in performing their appointed job function with minimum assistance upon graduation from the initial training program.
15. Manage the annual competency assessment conducted by the trainers related to trained staff to identify gaps in performance and provide a training plan based on assessment to meet the individuals need.

Skill Set Requirement:

Strong background in revenue cycle processes.
Strong knowledge of front-end processing in multi-registration areas required.
Strong knowledge of back-end processes including billing, follow-up, denials, customer service, financial counseling and cash posting.
Excellent working knowledge of Patient Access and Revenue Cycle Accounting operations and applications.
In-depth working knowledge of Government, Managed Care, Commercial and Workers Compensation insurance carriers.
Strong Understanding of the inter-relationships of the Revenue Cycle Departments
Strong Understanding of Patient Financial Information System and Billing System
Minimum Requirements
- Required Education/Course(s)/Training:
- Bachelor's degree and/or 10+ years related work experience.
- 5 + years of applicable EPIC Revenue Cycle experience
- Minimum of eight years of experience in training and development, with at least three years in a supervisory role within the healthcare or revenue cycle industry.
Preferred Requirements
Master's degree
Certifications or credentials in EPIC Resolute PB/HB, Cadence and Prelude
Certification in Revenue Cycle training and development
