About the Job
We are hiring a Supply Chain Manager at our Aberdeen, MD location. The Supply Chain Manager will be reporting to the Aberdeen General Manager, with a dotted line to Director of Supply Chain. This position is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Aberdeen supply chain processes and team as well as the associated key metrics. The individual will act as the primary Aberdeen contact to AWI Sales & CFC regarding product availability, service & quality, including claims. They will communicate expected demand & inventory targets to leadership to ensure that manufacturing supply is aligned with the market demand. This will occur monthly through supporting the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings as well as more regular dialogue as needed.

The Supply Chain Manager will drive process improvement. With a focus on customer service and earnings, opportunities for process improvement and cost savings will be evaluated regularly and ownership will be assigned to team members.
Additionally, it is expected that this individual will invest in the team and team members. Expectations will be clearly communicated. Measures of success will be identified and reviewed. Training, employee development and assignments to reinforce growth combined with coaching and accountability will ensure that our team and team members will be successful in current and future endeavors.
Leadership:
- Demonstrates leadership for a safe working environment. Supports the company's 8-Step Safety Process
- Drives process improvement through lean initiatives.
- Direct, coach, and develop supply chain staff. Guide in company practices, goals, & performance.
- Fosters a culture of high performance by aligning the organization's needs with the employees' capabilities and empowerment. Enables employees to make informed and effective decisions for the daily operations of the business.
- Lead, motivate & direct team to support key organizational metrics in safety, service (Fill Rate, MIPs, POM, claims/complaints, % SPLT) inventory (raw & finished), costs, scrap, obsolescence, process effectiveness, and financial performance

- Identifying seasonality sales and in our inventory targets allowing operations to manage labor costs
- Maintain RMS board & seasonal RMS
- Ensure planning team provides manufacturing with schedules that meet customer needs while minimizing costs, downtime and overtime
- Track change over frequency
- Track mandatory OT & shut-down Saturdays
- Identify cost savings opportunities & assign/implement plan to achieve savings
- Shuttle utilization
- Initiate & drive process improvement efforts to achieve or exceed expectations
- Develop and implement new metrics to drive organizational performance
- Run analytics & communicate needs throughout the organization
- Regular base stock analysis to determine inventory targets
- Drive results above, while still ensuring that the customer experience remains at industry leading levels
- Support AWI Sales Team, CFC, contractors/distributors in product availability, service & quality
Employee Development:
- Promote an environment that supports employee growth and development.
- Train, coach and evaluate supply chain team members on their performance and competencies, and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
- Deliver or coordinate supply chain training programs, and meaningful projects that enhance the skills and knowledge of your team and align with the business objectives.
- Identify and recommend internal, Armstrong and/ or Worthington training opportunities that support the career development of your team members, and ensure they complete relevant assignments to reinforce their learning outcomes.
- Upon completion, all training must include work related projects that benefit the company and ensure functional expertise is gained by the trainee.
Measures of Effectiveness:
- Safety Performance: OSHA recordable and lost time injuries, level loaded scheduling to minimize overtime
- Key metrics: Safety, process effectiveness, financial performance, service (Fill Rate, MIPs, POM, claims/complaints, % SPLT), inventory (raw & finished), obsolescence
- Takes appropriate and timely action in regard to key metric performance
- Promote educated workforce as it relates to their knowledge of the drivers that improve total plant performance, both financial and non-financial
- Maintain a highly effective supply chain that can function with minimal supervision in an accurate and timely manner providing the highest value added benefit to the organization
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5(+) years operations and supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Functional expertise in current supply chain concepts, practices and procedures
- Ability to analyze business scenarios for sales, operations and procurement
- Define & implement supply chain processes
- Forecasting, repetitive master scheduling, procurement, manufacturing & distribution
- Bachelor degree in Logistics, Operations, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or Business preferred
- Computer system skills in SAP, BW, SalesForce, BPCS, Cognos, Infinity, Manhattan and Microsoft Office preferred
- Process improvement with applied knowledge of lean manufacturing practices preferred
- APICS certification desired
- Project management experience is a plus
