Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Microbiologist for a contract position in Eddyville, IA. The opportunity will be one year with a strong chance for a long-term extension.
Position Summary: We are looking for a Microbiologist II to perform a variety of tasks in a manufacturing laboratory setting. Duties typically consist of preparing sterile media, sterilizing laboratory tools, shake flask inoculation and monitoring, direct microscopy, plating, and adhering to clean room protocols.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Assist with general lab duties which include but are not limited to: preparation of sterile growth medium, stock solutions, and reagents, as well as general lab cleaning and dishwashing.
- Perform aseptic sampling of manufacturing process.
- Perform direct microscopy and plating while adhering to clean room protocols
- Prepare, inoculate, manage shake flasks using aseptic technique.
- Prepare samples for analysis and analyze samples using a variety of analytical instruments such as a microscope and spectrophotometer.
- Enter process and analytical data into Microsoft Excel.
- Provide experiment coverage, as needed, on evenings and, occasionally, weekends.
- Participate in safety initiatives within the organization.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 4-year college degree in a science field such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, or related field.
- Laboratory experience via academic or prior position(s).
- Capable of independent work, but seeks clarification, as needed, prior to starting tasks to provide deliverables.
- Display good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of standard safe laboratory practices and a commitment to working safely.
- Competency in aseptic culture techniques.
- Excel skill, PPE wearing, Attention to detail, Must me able to lift 25 LBS.
Preferred:
- Experience in the set-up and operation of lab-scale bioreactors.
