Strata G is seeking to fill the position of Mid-Level Systems Engineer in the Huntsville area. The position requires basic understanding and application of technical expertise in the systems engineering field with knowledge of other related disciplines. Engineering responsibilities will include implementation of systems engineering principles of functional operations, interface and requirements development, management and tracking. The candidate will be tasked with supporting subsequent verification and validation planning and execution. The development of products related to the design, integration and test of various mechanical/electrical sub-systems and software associated with military or commercial ground manned and unmanned vehicles and rotary and, fixed wing aircraft will be part of the candidate's skills development program. The application of systems safety will be introduced to the candidate as part of career growth and development. The ideal candidate must be able to function with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment. The position requires the ability to interact effectively with team members, support personnel, and senior management on technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Qualifications Required:
- Knowledgeable in the System Engineering "V" cycle concept and processes for product development lifecycle (consistent with DoD System Engineering Fundamentals Handbook, dated January 2001), or equivalent
- Experienced in supporting major program requirements and design reviews and Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings
- Have an understanding of requirements management, tracing, and verification
- Have a competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Currently have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Have the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
- Must have excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
Qualifications Desired:
- Familiarity and experience with the principles of aircraft and system development and integral processes outlined in SAE ARP 754, Guidelines for the Development of Civil Aircraft and Systems
- Familiarity and experience with the principles of the safety assessment process and safety assessment analyses methods outlined in SAE ARP 4761, Guidelines and Methods for Conducting the Safety Assessment Process on Civil Airborne Systems and Equipment
- Familiarity and experience in the development of Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs), Common Cause Analyses (CCAs), Common Mode Analyses (CMAs), Dependency Diagrams (DDs), Markov Analyses (MAs), and Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analyses (FMECA)
- Desired to have familiarity and experience using Requirements management software (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) preferred) for requirements tracking and linking
- Desired to have familiarity with or be knowledgeable in the principles of Risk Management (identify, communicate, analyze, plan, track, and control)
- Competent and experienced in the wholesale development and organization of government contract deliverables (CDRLs) per required Data Item Descriptions (DIDs)
- Understands the use of the use of models in Systems Engineering and concept development
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Computer) or years of experience per recent DOD guidelines.
- Desire DAU/DSMC Systems Engineering Course
