Job Description
We are seeking a Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our client's dynamic team. In this role, you will manage a book of insurance business with a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision-making. You will be responsible for providing professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and colleagues, while maintaining a high rate of account retention. This position also involves supporting Producers in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business, as well as potential account rounding and new business development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage a book of insurance business, making major decisions independently
- Work closely with Producers and other personnel on client service, marketing, and renewals
- Oversee preparation and implementation of transactions, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts
- Analyze clients' insurance objectives and compare insurance plans to determine suitability
- Act as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve complex service issues
- Maintain high retention rates for assigned accounts
- Develop new business from existing accounts and contribute to departmental production goals
- Manage, organize, and conduct client meetings when necessary
- Document conversations and maintain accurate records in company systems
- Travel on company business as required
- Prepare reports for management
- Oversee, support, and mentor lower-level Account Managers and Assistant Account Managers
Required Experience/Skills
- At least 3+ years of experience in an insurance Account Management role with demonstrated proficiency in required lines (brokerage experience preferred)
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Superior customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and automated agency management systems
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Current license in good standing in required lines and states
- Up-to-date with all necessary CE credits in required lines and states
Nice-to-Haves
- AA and/or college degree
- Advanced professional designation (e.g., AAI, ARM, CIC)
- Experience in a global brokerage environment
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent required; AA and/or college degree preferred
