Mid Shift Custodian - 11:00AM-7:30PM - Tomball Innovation Center - Tomball Independent School District

Primary Purpose:

Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain the district’s standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Qualifications:

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.

Minimum Experience: None

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of basic techniques of minor repairs and building maintenance.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.

Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Ability to lift and carry50lbs. without assistance.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Maintain a custodial program according to District standard of cleanliness to ensure the comfort, health and safety of students and staff.
2. Execute procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities.
3. Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include the cleaning of floors, walls, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment and restrooms.
4. Keep the school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots neat and clean.
5. Inform Supervisor of safety hazards; follow all safety codes and standards.
6. Inspect custodial machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
7. Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repairs needed to the Supervisor.
8. Move furniture and equipment as directed by the Supervisor.
9. Provide flexibility for emergency work situations, i.e., natural disasters, water damage, theft and vandalism.
10. Demonstrate a positive attitude, flexibility and be willing to perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

Working Conditions:

Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and/or carrying; pushing, reaching, kneeling, repeated bending and stooping. Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; excessive humidity; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders; work alone, work with others, and wear a safety belt.
