HJF is seeking a Military Behavioral Health Provider who will contribute to the dissemination of an Encounter Skills Curriculum (ESC), both in live training settings and in the creation of an online ESC course that will be accessed by DoD personnel from around the world. The ESC is a 5 day course designed to heighten the skills of victim assistance professionals within the DoD to improve the experience of victims receiving services. Applicants must possess the ability to provide behavioral health subject matter expertise that is culturally sensitive in a manner that is accessible and inclusive which demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP), which is based in Bethesda, MD. The Military Behavioral Health Provider will assist with activities related to CDP’s mission, which is to lead the development of a community of culturally mindful and clinically competent providers through the delivery of high-quality training and education, the convening of experts, and the dissemination of research-based treatment and the latest topics in military behavioral health. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) provides administrative and management support to the Center. CDP strives to be the central hub for the Military Health System (MHS) in the development and implementation of training and education to clinicians in order to ensure that all service members, veterans, and their families receive quality behavioral healthcare that meets their unique needs.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a subject matter expert in encounter skills (e.g., developing rapport, active listening, building trust, etc.) and in working with victims of sexual assault.
- Assists with integrating the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of providing live trainings, and works on a team that develops online learning modules to teach encounter skills to victim advocate professionals.
- Interacts closely with key stakeholders virtually and in-person to assist with the planning and execution of multiple train-the trainer workshop events, and coordinates with stakeholders in the review process for conversion of the ESC into a high-quality eLearning course.
- Assists with dissemination of the ESC by serving as a trainer in multiple train-the-trainer workshops that will be held to ensure the DoD has a cadre of well qualified trainers.
- Works alongside other SMEs and a team of curriculum designers and eLearning developers to assist with the conversion, testing and rollout of a multi-day online training course. This course will provide a high level of interactivity to foster engagement and the ability to provide online learners with the same set of skills from the in person ESC.
- Serve as an active member/lead on team projects and assist with programming, strategic communications, metrics, and efficiencies.
- Contribute to CDP’s subject matter expert blog posts, podcasts, videos, infographics, asynchronous training materials, and other additional educational activities as needed. Prepare scholarly manuscripts for publication and presents at national and/or international conferences to disseminate the work conducted by the Center.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Master's Degree required in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health required, Doctoral Degree preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health
- Active License preferred.
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience delivering professional presentations to adult learners, including an ability to engage learners with different experience levels, respond to questions, and convey points clearly.
- Knowledge of the field of victim advocacy and experience in supporting victims of sexual assault/harassment, ideally having worked with military populations who have been victims.
- Experience with curriculum development of presentations and other materials for adult continuing education.
- Knowledge of the DoD’s policies, procedures and training programs for the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO) program is preferred.
- Candidates with experience in working with software teams that convert live training content into some type of eLearning environment (online courses, mobile applications, etc.) are strongly desired. Experience in developing educational video content for adult learners is also strongly desired.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write professional correspondence, educational and marketing materials, and reports, as well as to provide briefings and updates to internal and external partners.
- Clinical experience providing mental health services to adult clients.
- An active clinical behavioral health license to practice within the US highly preferred.

Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $88,600-$112,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
