Job Description
The Millwright Journeyman is responsible for installing machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial environment.
Position Responsibilities - Essential
- Installs machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial environment, using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools
- Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Dismantles machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
- Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
- Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools, and fastens them to foundation or other structure
- Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials, such as wood, cement, and steel
- Aligns machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
- May operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
- May repair and lubricate machines and equipment
- Wear personal protective equipment and use safety equipment as required i.e. safety glasses, safety toe shoes, full face mask respirator with supplied air, etc.
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.
