PURPOSE/OVERVIEW:
To provide leadership for Thrive’s efforts to support the wellbeing of pastors, so that pastors flourish in ministry, and to engage in consultation work with congregations and pastors as needed.
Compensation: $89,688 / year USD or $91,258 / year CAD
This position offers a flexible work schedule, attractive benefits package (including retirement fund contribution) and three weeks vacation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Develop and curate resources that support pastoral wellbeing at milestone and important transition moments in pastoral vocation, including opportunities for coaching, spiritual direction, and care for pastors, including sabbatical and continuing education opportunities.
- Identify, utilize, and provide access to assessment tools related to pastor wellbeing and vocational discernment.
- Manage Thrive’s Thriving Together in Ministry initiatives
- Develop and oversee the mentoring program for newly ordained Ministers of the Word.
- Serve as a key member in planning, promoting, implementing, and evaluating Thrive’s Pastors Gathering
- Participate in the work of the Engage Team and collaborate closely with Thrive’s other ministry consultants to identify and respond to needs and opportunities for overall congregational health.
- Work with other Thrive ministry consultants to provide consultation to pastors, ministry staff, and councils in situations of transition or conflict including the identification of systemic or individual dynamics that call for intensive responses of assessment, mediation, restoration, or healing.
- Work collaboratively with counterparts in other parts of the CRCNA ecosystem, including the Director of Candidacy, and staff within Resonate, Calvin University, and Calvin Theological Seminary.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external persons and organizations involved in pastor/clergy wellbeing.
- Provide coaching to pastors as time allows and as is needed.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by Ministry Leader - Engage.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professing membership in a Christian Reformed congregation, or of a church in ecclesiastical fellowship with the CRCNA, and agreement with the doctrine of the church signified by signing a covenant statement.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, leadership and administrative skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to, and capacity for, working as part of a team.
- Capacity for working cross-culturally.
- Demonstrated intermediate computer and digital communication skills.
- Understanding of CRC history, changing culture, and polity is required.
- Bilingual (English, Spanish, and/or Korean) fluency is preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in pastoral ministry, social work, clinical counseling, or related fields required.
- Significant biblical/theological education and understanding is required.
- Extensive experience in pastoral leadership is preferred.
- Ordination in the Christian Reformed Church is beneficial.
- Advanced training, certification, or experience in Clinical Pastoral Education, clinical counseling, spiritual direction, coaching, restorative practices, or similar is beneficial.
