Job Summary
The Mixing Line Operator plays a key role in achieving company goals by mixing raw ingredients to ensure product meets company standards while working safely. A Mixing Line Operator is required to follow a recipe and gather, weigh, mix, and prepare ingredients while ensuring waste is minimized. This individual will be responsible for preparing and operating equipment as well as shutting down machinery for cleanup.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up Mixing Line for startup and changeover, assemble and operate the machine for production, and shut down equipment for clean up
- Follow a production schedule and ensure mixing is completed in the allotted time
- Retrieve bins of product and returning to mixing line and add amendments/fertilizers to product mix
- Test basic soil chemistry for compliance
- Ensure product quality meets company standards by weighing product, monitor machine settings, complete line check forms, and communicate with other departments
- Troubleshooting and problem solving when necessary (i.e. making adjustments to the machines)
- Maintain a clean working area, such as disposing of waste and cleaning floor
- Adhere to the Company’s safety policies and procedures
- Work in other production areas as required
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred
- Previous manufacturing experience is an asset
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a dedication to quality and safety
- Working as part of a team, often with minimal supervision, while maintaining a positive and respectful workplace
- Abiding by company policies and procedures
- Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving
- Ability to use arithmetic to perform production related calculations
- Previous experience running a forklift is preferred
- Must be available for day and weekend shifts
- Safety protection is required
- Exposure to some job-related hazards, including moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery, climbing small ladders, dusty environment, and heavy objects
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear
- The employee will be required to stand for extended periods of time
- The employee may frequently stand on their feet
- The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. from the ground level. The need to lift over 65 lbs. may arise from time to time – should this be the case, employees should engage in team lifting and/or use the provided equipment to safely lift
- The employee must have the capability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and your whole body – bending, crouching, climbing - using steps and ladders, pushing pulling, stooping and reaching
