Washington, DC
About the Job
Join Our Team as a Mid-Level Model-Based Systems Engineer at Rite-Solutions, Inc.!
Are you passionate about transforming systems engineering through cutting-edge modeling techniques? Rite-Solutions, Inc. invites you to take on an exciting Mid-Level Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) role, offering a hybrid work arrangement with in-person days in our Washington, DC office.
At Rite-Solutions, Inc., you'll be part of a team that values innovation and collaboration. You'll have the opportunity to work on critical projects that impact the future of naval systems engineering while enjoying a flexible work environment and professional growth opportunities.
Job Description:
As a Mid-Level Model-Based Systems Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of a revolutionary shift in Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT). This role is pivotal as NAVSEA transitions to MBSE across a spectrum of programs and departments. You will directly support this transformation, working closely with our Director of Digital Engineering to drive MBSE initiatives and deliver exceptional value to our key government customers.
NUWCDIVNPT is the U.S. Navy's (USN) full spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. In 2020, the USN released a Digital Systems Engineering Transformation Strategy that necessitated NUWC's transition to MBSE. NUWCDIVNPT is responsible for systems at all stages of the system and acquisition lifecycle and require SET support for all stages of the lifecycle.
In this role, you'll leverage your expertise to:
- Shape the Future: Contribute to the Navy's transition to MBSE by developing comprehensive models, including hardware and software architectures, use cases, behavioral models, and mission simulations.
- Innovate and Implement: Apply MBSE methodologies to both new and legacy systems, ensuring your models meet the evolving needs of stakeholders.
- Communicate and Collaborate: Articulate the benefits of MBSE to diverse audiences, including non-technical decision-makers, and work seamlessly with government customers to define and execute MBSE strategies.
To succeed in this role, you must understand all 9 Systems Modeling Language (SysML) diagrams and have experience building them in Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or a comparable modeling tool. Experience modeling and implementing MBSE on new or legacy systems is a must. You must also clearly articulate what the benefits of MBSE are to non-technical decision makers.
To excel in this role, you should have experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, are an OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP), and have experience doing MBSE on Naval or DoD programs. Experience working in an Agile software development environment, doing Agile MBSE, and a working knowledge of Agile tools (e.g., Jira and Confluence) is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build requirements and tests models
- Work with stakeholders in understanding how to read and use system models
- Model system use cases, behaviors, and structure
- Model software services, external interfaces, internal interfaces, and data structures
- Create process diagrams and support seamless transitions to MBSE
- Create document-generation templates for MagicDraw/Cameo Systems Modeler
- Generate systems engineering CDRLs from a model
- Work effectively with government customers in defining MBSE schedules, roadmaps, and value driven MBSE tasking
Requirements/Skills:
- 5-8 years of applicable industry experience. 2 years experience may be supplemented with a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, is required.
- Working knowledge of SysML and its 9 diagrams.
- Experience building all 9 SysML diagrams.
- Experience implementing MBSE on new or legacy systems.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to clearly articulate the benefits of MBSE to various stakeholders (e.g., manager, executive, engineer).
- Ability to articulate the process of creating models for legacy and new systems.
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or other comparable system modeling tool.
- Position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance; active clearance is preferable.
Additional Skills of Interest (not required):
- OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) certification.
- INCOSE Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.
- Experienced in Agile MBSE and doing MBSE within and Agile software development environment.
- Experience with system of systems (SoS) modeling and the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
- Experience developing custom report generation templates using Velocity Templating Language (VTL).
- Experience implementing MBSE on Naval or DoD systems.
- Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
- Active Department of Defense security clearance
