About the Job
The Mohs Tech is responsible for accessioning specimens, preparing slide trays, filing of blocks and slides, and assisting with all aspects of lab organization and maintenance.
$3,000 SIGN ON BONUS
Part Time: 18 hours per week
Wednesday: 7:30AM-3:00/4:00PM
Thursday: 7:30AM-3:00/4:00PM
Friday (every other): 7:30AM-3:00/4:00PM
Responsibilities:
1. Follow laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
2. Maintain records that demonstrate the proficiency testing samples are listed in the same manner as patient samples
3. Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
4. Follow the laboratory’s established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
5. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s lab director
6. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify clinic supervisor.
7. Adherence to compliance and completion of compliance training.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education
1. Associate’s Degree in a science related field is required; Bachelor’s Degree in a science related field is preferred.
2. Previous experience in a lab environment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Mohs Tech previous experience highly preferred. Would consider MA, CNA that has experience cutting Mohs.
1. Must be flexible with hours to meet work flow demands.
2. Knowledge of general medical terminology is preferred.
3. Ability to type a minimum of 45 wpm with minimal errors is preferred.
4. Must possess attention to detail.
5. Must possess excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills.
6. Must display a friendly, cheerful, tactful and polite demeanor and must be compassionate and caring in dealing with others.
7. Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
8. Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
9. Ability to understand physician’s instructions/handwriting and know when to seek additional information or clarification.
10. Ability to respond positively to constructive criticism and direction from supervisors.
11. Must demonstrate professional appearance and manner at all times.
12. Must remain compliant with HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA requirements.
13. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Physical Demands
1. Ability to communicate in an active multi-office environment.
2. Ability to efficiently operate all job related office equipment (telephone, computer, calculator, fax, copier).
3. Ability to communicate via telephone.
4. Ability to sit for large portions of a workday.
