Summary/Objective:
The Mortgage Loan Officer work closely with our clients and find the best mortgage loans for them. Responsible for initiating the mortgage process for potential clients, preparing, analyzing, and verifying mortgage loan applications for the purchase or refinance of real estate.
Essential Job Duties:
- Meets with and interviews potential and current clients to understand their lending needs including first-time mortgages, new mortgages, and refinance of existing loans.
- Explains the differences between and approval requirements of various types of mortgages; prepares and presents a lending package based on client specifications.
- Assists clients with completion of mortgage applications, obtaining and inspecting completed documents for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Reviews loan applications, gathers credit histories and reports, and determines applicants' capacity to repay and default risk.
- Monitor and report on application processes.
- Help resolve problems during loan process.
- Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the local real estate market; current and predicted lending rates; and changes in rules, regulations, and best practices of various mortgages.
- Develops and maintains contacts with local realtors, developers, and builders to promote and encourage the use of GWHL.
- Maintains relationship with builder referral partner, including working onsite as needed.
- Ensure compliance with privacy laws and confidentiality policies throughout the process.
- Great Western Home Loans works together with Williams Homes as a builder referral partner, with a direct customer base coming from the Williams Homes new home communities.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma Required. AA/BS degree in Finance or Business, a plus.
- 3+ years' experience as a mortgage loan officer or in a similar role.
- Previous experience in sales and customer support.
- Working knowledge of mortgage loan software (e.g. Calyx Point, Empower, Arive, or similar).
- Attention to detail, great mathematical and analytical skills.
- Must have a valid mortgage loan officer license in state working in.
