Lakeview is looking for a Mortgage Sales Trainer to join the Originations Training Team. The primary responsibility of the Mortgage Sales Trainer is to facilitate and deliver learning solutions in a manner that engages the learner and produces desired outcomes. The secondary responsibility of this role is to help create, maintain, and update training materials. The ideal candidate will have a background in training/coaching, specifically in the mortgage sales, and will be a hands-on team member that can both aid in the production of training materials as well as train individuals and teams in the organization on a variety of sales topics. This role will report into the AVP of Training and will work collaboratively with internal team members as well as with teams, individuals, and leaders across the organization. This is a remote position with a salary range of $80,000 to $120,000.
Responsibilities:- Facilitation of training via both instructor-led (when viable) and distance delivery methods
- Directly responsible for facilitation of training programs for Consumer Direct Mortgage Originations Sales team members at all experience levels. This scope can include New Hire training, training the Loan Origination Systems, Loan Products, Policies and Procedures, Regulatory and Compliance, and possibly “Soft Skills” topics. There may be instances in which this role would be asked to support Operations teams training.
- The trainer will be responsible for evaluating learning needs and current practices (needs assessment) then, make recommendations to the departmental manager with regards to creating and delivering a training development plan complete with materials and learning resources such as online modules and guides.
- Help to establish the training team’s processes and procedures to ensure consistent messaging, delivery, tracking, and reporting.
- Utilize interpersonal and observational skills to assess trainees’ understanding and progress, asses the training material and resources and make recommendations and decisions regarding necessary adjustments to the training/learning program.
- Help to design and deliver assessments aligned with learning objectives, link the assessment results to measures of competence and business outcomes, and be prepared to report the results.
- Ensure that Lakeview’s customer-centric culture is exemplified, and that all communication is timely, professional, and positive.
- Maintain knowledge of company policies, procedures, underwriting guidelines and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with SMEs, Managers, and Instructional Designers in the developing of training programs and assessments; pilot materials and training programs and make suggestions and recommendations to the Instructional Designers.
- Act as a learning consultant to determine if a training request is truly a training need; a communication need, or a coaching need and work with the Manager/Department to draft the appropriate solution.
- Design and implement varying levels of evaluation.
- Performing miscellaneous tasks related to training and development.
- Travel may be anticipated at 1-2 times a quarter.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience such as 3-5 years of adult learning/training experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience of the mortgage industry (including regulations, mortgage loan products and mortgage systems a plus), knowledge of loan originations; Mortgage Loan Originator experience is highly desired
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills; ability to manage participants by addressing performance issues effectively and bringing problems to resolution
- Thorough knowledge of a wide variety of training techniques and technologies including alternatives to lecture, strategies for addressing different learning needs, effective questioning techniques and session reviews/debriefs
- Experience in using learning management systems, preferably Cornerstone, a plus
- Demonstrated understanding and application of adult learning principles
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to manage multiple projects and processes while remaining extremely detail-oriented
- Highly collaborative; equally effective as a project leader and a team player
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Extensive knowledge and experience of the mortgage industry, including regulations, mortgage loan products and mortgage systems a plus
- Ability to communicate complicated concepts and technical data in simple terms
- NMLS license is preferred but not required
