About the Job
As a Maintenance Foreman you are the lead on a Maintenance Crew. Employees look to you to make important decisions and to guide them throughout the day. You are expected to treat your team with respect. Your goal is to create a team that can operate efficiently.
Know how to use and operate all maintenance equipment.
Know how to take off, sharpen and balance mower blades.
Responsible for getting equipment fixed or dropped off at repair shop.
Know how to properly load trailer.
Know the maintenance route and customer base.
Responsible for filling out mowing log sheet.
Responsible for ensuring there is enough fuel for the equipment.
Responsible for turning in fuel receipts.
Must know how to drive and back up truck and trailer.
Responsible for training Laborers.
Know how to use Jobber Time and be responsible for making sure crew members punching in and out every day.
Responsible for checking engine and transmission oil and notifying management when truck/trailer maintenance is needed.
Responsible for getting flat tires fixed.
Know how to use all mowers to their fullest potential, including in wet and dry conditions.
Knowledgeable on how to properly stripe lawns.
Know and monitor which direction lawns are mowed week to week.
Know specific cut heights per lawn.
Know how to properly perform and execute spring and fall cleanups, proper pruning, etc.
Your job title is not an excuse to only use the mower all day. As a Foreman you are expected to guide the Maintenance Crew from beginning to end. It should not be uncommon for a Foreman to assist the Laborers in all facets of their jobs - lead by example.
