Position Summary
The Municipal Sales Assistant position assists the Municipal Officer (MO) with servicing the existing municipal portfolio and sales efforts. The role operates within the larger Retail/Treasury Management team to support the Municipal Officers activities to grow the municipal deposit portfolio. This individual alongside the Municipal Officer, Lenders, Branch Managers, Treasury, and other stakeholders to support the sales function including prospecting and servicing the existing municipal portfolio.

The Municipal Sales Assistant role is a position for individuals who aspire to be involved in customer facing sales, meet new people, develop relationships, and to one day potentially take on the Municipal Officer position or other sales related role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate and assist with new and existing customer account openings, signer changes, and other change requests.
Field phone calls from municipalities in absence of the MO.
Contact Municipalities who have not worked Positive Pay exceptions when necessary.
Meets weekly with MO to review calendars and develop "to-do" lists for the week.
Orders supplies related to MO marketing efforts - giveaways, stocking tables, and overall preparation for MO networking events.
Drive new business by scheduling and attending existing customers sales calls with MO. As well as accompany the MO on prospecting calls with potential new municipal depositors.
Assist MO and Branch Managers with accurately completing CDARS/ICS paperwork.
Utilize CRM tools to track and record all aspects of the sales processes - existing and new customers, as well as capture client correspondence and exchanges. Provide support to internal and external customers via phone, email, video, and face to face.
In partnership with the MO, service/retain/grow existing municipal/public funds deposits and meet goal/revenue objectives.
Gets involved in the community, including participating in treasurer meetings, attending conference, board/committee member, etc. as assigned by their supervisor.
Service and retain existing deposits and grow these relationships.
Cross sell to other business lines when opportunities arise and works closely with the Treasury Management Team.
Support the MO with new customer on-boarding, smooth implementation, and overall customer retention including assisting with perform annual reviews on top tier clients.
Under the direction of the MO, assist with the marketing efforts of the MO as assigned.
Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one's duties.
The Municipal Sales Assistant role also acts as the front desk for the Portage Trade Center location which includes greeting clients, supply ordering and limited support for all departments represented at the location - time permitting.
Attend all department/bank required meetings.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

- Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred and/or 2-5 years of banking or other applicable experience.
- Basic computer experience including Microsoft Word, Excel, and data base knowledge along with good typing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively compose original correspondence and verbally exchange information with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Excellent customer service skills including the ability to interpret the needs of customers and effectively resolve any problems to ensure complete satisfaction.
- Basic math skills including the ability to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out verbal and written instructions and deal with standardized and unique situations.
