Immediate Supervisor: Visitor Services Manager
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This non-supervisory full-time position. Must be passionate about history, hospitality, and providing exceptional service to visitors. Be a dedicated individual to join our team as a Museum Facility Operations Assistant. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of the facilities team and museum and visitor center while creating memorable exceptional experiences for all guests and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. This position requires the performance of a variety of routine responsibilities related to being the museum aide for weekdays and weekend activities and meetings at the Lehnis Train Museum as well as a facility operations assistant and is responsible for event setup/tear down for various groups, as required. Responsible for the general clerical and secretarial work required to support activities and operations of the museum, giftshop and community facilities. Serves as a point of contact for hospitality and tourism requests. Assists in the sales and servicing of events and conventions. Additionally, will perform routine cleaning and custodial work in the community facilities as requested. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
- Conduct Clerical Duties: Handle administrative tasks for the museum and gift shop, including managing files, financial records, collecting money and answering phone calls.
- Visitor Engagement: Lead tours for visitors, sharing the museum's story line and historical research while assisting walk-ins with planning their visit and local event information.
- Exhibit Maintenance: Assist in building museum exhibits under supervisory direction and ensure cleanliness of the museum building interior, exhibits, furniture, and artifacts.
- Building Operations: Open and close the Museum and Visitor Center for weekday and weekend activities or meetings, maintain heating, cooling, and public address systems, and set up tables and chairs for events.
- Facility Management: Collect fees from museum users, handle facility rentals, admissions, and merchandise sales, as well as manage department rent-able spaces and scheduling.
- Event Support: Assist with event planning, convention sales, and servicing, including setting up equipment, furnishings, and fixtures for various activities and cleaning up afterward. General Maintenance: Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming carpets, collecting trash, cleaning restrooms, dusting displays, and assisting with laundry and steaming.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, record meeting minutes, provide efficient follow-up, and utilize Community Facilities Software for event communication.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Routine, frequent contact with the public. Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various locations.
- Employee could be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards.

- Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms and sweep.
- Ability to walk over sloped and uneven terrain.
- Employee could be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes and odors.
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public.
- Ability to understand verbal and written communication.
- Required to work overtime, night shifts, weekend on-call, and holida s.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
