NAMI Tennessee-- What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. NAMI Tennessee is one of 50 State Organizations of NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
NAMI Tennessee is a recently realigned organization serving the state of Tennessee and our 18 local NAMI Affiliates. Together with new leadership and an inspired staff and volunteer leadership, we are poised for community expansion.
Position Description--NAMI Tennessee is seeking an organized, creative and motivated professional to grow and strengthen the organizational capacity of our local NAMI affiliates, encourage the integration of organizational teamwork, and support NAMI Tennessee's Executive Director and their staff.
The Affiliate Relations Director provides consultation, support and technical assistance to local affiliates across Tennessee, oversees community outreach efforts, works collaboratively with NAMI Tennessee's programming team, events, fundraising/development, corporate partnerships and serves as a liaison between NAMI National and the local NAMI affiliates.
The work encompasses a very wide variety of projects or major functional areas. Available guidelines are broadly stated and non-specific such as statements of work, organizational mission statements, and/or theoretical frameworks. The employee has full and direct accountability for results.

Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social work, business, communication, non-profit leadership or comparable field.
- Experience with non-profit governance, Board of Directors Organizational development & strategic planning.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrates excellent judgment and relationship management skills.
- Experience in program development and community outreach efforts.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and TEAMS.
- Experience in developing new revenue streams, fundraising, events, and donor relations.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Fiscal management skills, including budget management, decision-making, and reporting.
- A willingness to learn in areas in which prior knowledge may not exist.
- Strong sense of integrity– conviction to working with compassion, honesty, and effectiveness.
- Experience with peer, family or systems mental health helpful.
