National Account Manager, Biosimilars – South Central

The National Account Manager, Biosimilars is responsible for effectively and compliantly engaging C-suite executives, account business leaders, pharmacy and administrative personnel, and other decision makers within major accounts to discuss, present, and negotiate pricing and contracting terms and conditions, and to present the biosimilar product/portfolio value proposition. National accounts include, but are not limited to, NCI/academic institutions, complex hospital systems/IDNs and large community-based oncology practices.
Responsible for relationship building and alignment with HQ stakeholders to ensure appropriate understanding, support, and action to drive account goals (e.g., pricing, contracting, legal, finance, marketing, advocacy, policy). The NAM will develop and present contract proposals to internal teams and demonstrate the business case rationale and market impact of contracting decisions.
Responsible for appropriate and compliant communication, collaboration, and account plan development and execution, for all assigned accounts, aligning with the various customer facing and field-based teams.
The NAM must have a high level of healthcare market knowledge, understand the interconnections between accounts and market segments, demonstrate exquisite knowledge of financial, contractual, and operational decision processes in clinic practices and health systems, and to keep this knowledge current through monitoring key market trends. The NAM apply this information to analyze the potential impacts on business, to prioritize accounts and account opportunities, to identify areas of mutual interest between Biocon and key accounts, and to develop and execute strategic account plans to deliver defined account goals and Biocon business objectives.
Description
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and minimum of 7 years of experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of oncology or immunology pharmaceutical (or related) experience in customer-facing roles/functions required. Minimum of 5 years of multi-state, buy-and-bill, large/complex account management experience required.
- Strong financial acumen with ability to deliver compliant pricing/value messages required.
- Experience with negotiation, bid proposals, and contracting with complex IDNs including 340B is highly desirable. Understanding of contract pricing and terms, acute and oncology GPOs is preferred.
- Team leadership experience is preferred.
Requires an understanding of the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry to include pricing and policy impacts, market and business strategy, and account and customer management. Demonstrated ability to capitalize on market knowledge to successfully engage executive/administrative/operational personnel at large accounts and to deliver customer impact required. Must understand and adhere to government rules and regulations (including Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, the Prescription Drug Marketing Act, the Pharma Code, OIG guidelines, and all other applicable federal and state regulations), as well as Company and departmental codes of conduct, policies, and procedures.
Must possess detail-orientation, critical thinking, strong communication and presentation skills. Requires demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, strategically plan and prioritize, and to evaluate impact and execution. Demonstrated ability to formulate, develop, write, communicate, and monitor the execution of stakeholder business plans required.
Well-established interpersonal, communication, and diplomacy skills required. Must exercise considerable discretion and independent judgment and demonstrate the ability to analyze and present complex information to all levels of the company and account stakeholders. Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively and gaining alignment with colleagues across the organization (including field and HQ), and leading (formally or informally) cross functional teams required.
• Weekly travel will range from 30-60% with occasional weekend travel required.
• Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading, and writing English are preferred.
This position is an exciting opportunity that is currently part of Biocon supporting our biosimilars business but will move to Biocon Biologics. Biocon contributed its biosimilars portfolio and related commercial and operational capabilities to Biocon Biologics, effective November 29, 2022. It is anticipated that this role will transfer to Biocon within 24 months of the date of close.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The salary range for this position is: $128,500.00 - $222,750.00 USD.
