Summary: The Burn department reports directly to the shift Foreman with the primary responsibilities of burning steel plate of various size and thickness. NC Burners are required to operate CNC and Plasma Machine and know how to set up each machine. NC Burners must produce quality burn material with no slag or gouges. They will clean all noncomplete material and identify all cut material and material returned to stock per company policy and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Comply with all company Health, Safety and environmental policy and procedures.
- Read, interrupts and understands job cards
- Burn and cuts steel according to job specs.
- Program CNC Machine with steel material size to insure proper burning.
- Ensure documentation is complete and accurate in a timely manner.
- Represent the company in a positive professional manner.
- Comply with company No-Smoking in designated areas and no cell phone policy.
- Comply with company Housekeeping policies and standards to maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
- Must meet all company quality standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Willingness to perform task in a fully competent manner.
- Ability to operate CNC and Plasma Burning Machine
- Is certified and demonstrates ability to safely operate a lift truck up to 40,000-pound lifts capacity.
- Is certified and demonstrates ability to safely operate an Overhead Crane.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools such as: grinder, hammer, wrench and pry bar.
- Accurately read a tape measurer
- Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written.
- Basic reading, writing and mathematics skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work well with others including all levels of management.
- Must have excellent attendance and punctuality
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in most weather conditions including temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, below 50 degrees and rain or snow.
- Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
- Able to push, lift and pull weights up to but not to exceed 50 pounds.
- Able to exceed 40 hours per week.
- Ability to wear proper PPE as required.
Hours: 1st shift hours - 5:00 am to 3:30 pm
2nd Shift hours - 3:30 pm to 2:00 am/Shift Diff. $1.50 hr./total pay $25.22 hr.
3rd shift hours - 2:00 am to 12:30 pm/Shift Diff. $2.50 hr./total pay $26.22 hr.
(working 10 – 20 hrs. overtime or more weekly – overtime accumulates after 8 hrs. a day)
