- High school diploma or GED.
- A related machine trades certificate/diploma and two years relevant experience, or, six years relevant experience.
- Understands basic concepts of high velocity machining and/or the machining of complex prismatic components requiring 3, 4 and 5-axis positioning a plus.
- Experience with milling, turning, or grinding.
- Experience setting up and operating machine tools.
- Intermediate ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in the use of machinist hand tools and measuring tools, process planning and inspection.
- Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Siemens NX CAM or Gibbs CAM programming in full 5-axis positioning and 3-axis contouring experience.
- Experience in a precision machine shop environment.
- An understanding of fixture concepts and designs.
- Experience verifying and optimizing NC programs or machine programs prior to the release to the shop floor. Vericut software experience a plus.
- Experience with assemblies and nesting parts into billets for machining of part families.
- An understanding of postprocessors, Cimpro or Gibbs CAM desired, for a variety of machine and control types.
- An understanding of touch probe macro programming and utilizing standards and procedures for the safe and effective use of probes on the shop floor.
Wage Rate - $35 - $50 depending upon qualificationsPosition Summary
This position is responsible for creating, verifying and proofing machining programs for 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machining centers, supporting the development of touch probe procedures and programs, developing and maintaining machining processes and standard post-processor activities, participating in machine fixture and cutting tool design and development, providing tool lists, set-up instructions and graphics to the shop floor, participating in cost reduction projects and developing relevant documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create, verify, and proof machining programs for 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machining centers working from blueprints and 3D models. Buy off on programs in conjunction with Engineering pre-production.
2. Support the development of touch probe procedures and programs to be used for on-machine pre-production inspection and verification.
3. Develop and maintain machining processes, including standard post-processor activities.
4. Participate in machine fixture and cutting tool design and development.
5. Provide tool lists, set-up instructions and graphics to shop floor pre-production.
6. Participate in cost reduction projects related to NC programming.
7. Develop relevant documentation, including programs, procedures, and best practices.
8. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, adhering to 5S principles.
