Job Summary:
Improve reliability and compliance across the enterprise from a high-visibility position. Design, implement, monitor, and supportprocesses, projects, and controls addressing reliability risk management and compliance with NERCOperations & Planning (O&P) Reliability Standards. Assignments will involve working with peers and high-level management withinthe following Business Units (BUs): Power Delivery, Power Generation, Nuclear, and System Planning & Operations. Support all aspects of the NERC Standards life cycle and the Corrective Action Program. Develop/maintain metrics and reports. Provide subject matter expertise for procedures, training,and support within the department.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with management across the company to resolve NERC compliance and reliability issues.
- Ensure compliance to NERC O&P Reliability Standards, NERC Alerts, NERC Lessons Learned, and other internal reliability policies by supporting and enhancing BU reliability risk and compliance management programs.
- Ensure implementation of new and revised NERC O&P Reliability Standards.
- Support development and maintenance of Reliability Risk Management program addressing reliability risks beyond NERC compliance.
- Design and support Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) controls to monitor BU regulatory compliance.
- Develop metrics monitoring BU performance against NERC compliance-sensitive business processes.
- Coordinate and assist BUs with enforcement process (self-reports, reportability reviews, mitigation plans).
- Prepare for, coordinate, and support compliance audits conducted by internal resources, consultants, or regulatory organizations.
- Keep stakeholders informed of NERC standards development activities. Solicit input from appropriate subject matter experts and communicate Entergy’s position on proposed regulatory standards.
- Perform self-assessments, new build & acquisition compliance readiness assessments, and spot-checks.
- Review BU procedures, provide NERC Standard guidance, support NERC compliance risk control/test development, and support responsibility matrix development.
- Support Corrective Action Program including creating Condition reports, assisting Causal Determinations, collaborating with BUs, creating Corrective Actions, and fulfilling Corrective Actions.
- Liaise with security teams as an O&P Subject Matter Expert supporting security controls in the operations environment.
- Monitor & coordinate industry compliance trends, risks, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement activities and industry events.
- Ensure best practices are incorporated into the regulatory policies and programs as required. Participate in internal meetings/committees regarding strengthening Entergy compliance processes and oversight.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum education & experience required of the position:
- Engineer (NERC) III: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 4+ years of relevant experience is required, or in lieu of a degree 8+ years of relevant experience is required.
- Engineer (NERC) Senior: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 6+ years of relevant experience is required, or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of relevant experience is required.
Minimum Knowledge & Skills and Abilities required of the position:
- Direct cross-functional experience and strong high-level understanding in one or more of the following NERC functional entities: Transmission Owner, Transmission Operator, Generation Owner, Generation Operator, Transmission Planner, Reliability Coordinator, Balancing Authority.
- Experience complying to NERC standards as an employee of a NERC oversight organization or an aforementioned NERC functional entity.
- Ability to establish internal control objectives based on complex regulatory requirements, company policy, standards, and guidelines, and risk analysis.
- Well versed in compliance resolution and root cause analysis.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of NERC reliability standards.
- Experience in auditing, NERC standard enforcement, inherent risk assessments/compliance oversight plans, and/or NERC registration.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams and projects.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Problem solving skills to analyze complex issues and identify solutions.
- Self-Starter/Motivator and independent worker to complete tasks/ projects with quick turnaround deadlines and prioritize new or changing deadlines.
- Flexibility to redirect focus when new priorities arise.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, and/or other reporting metric tools.
