Nesco Resource is seeking a NetAPP resource in the greater Phoenix AZ area for Site Service(s).
Scope and Notes:
We are seeking a skilled NetApp Shelf Cabling Cleanup Technician to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and organization of storage infrastructure. This role focuses on the assessment, organization, and optimization of shelf cabling in NetApp storage environments. The technician will work closely with data center staff to organize and tidy cabling, minimizing risks and enhancing ease of maintenance. The ideal candidate will have experience in data center environments, understand NetApp storage systems, and be knowledgeable about best practices for cabling in high-density setups.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, clean up, and re-organize NetApp storage cabling to ensure compliance with data center standards.
- Map, label, and document existing cabling structures and design enhancements as needed.
- Re-route cables to reduce clutter, improve airflow, and minimize strain on connections.
- Collaborate with data center and storage teams to plan and execute minimal-impact cabling reorganizations.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to verify correct connections and ensure data availability after re-cabling.
Best Practices for NetApp Shelf Cabling:
- Follow a structured, labeled, and color-coded cabling system for easy identification and troubleshooting.
- Use cable ties or Velcro strips to bundle cables neatly without causing strain on the connectors.
- Maintain proper bend radius and avoid sharp angles to prevent signal interference and cable damage.
- Ensure cables are properly grounded and routed away from power cables to minimize electrical interference.
- Keep documentation up-to-date with accurate diagrams of cabling layout, including port mappings and shelf connectivity.
Qualifications:
- Experience with NetApp storage systems and cabling in a data center environment.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic and copper cabling standards.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
