Overview:
Under general guidance, leads the network team in managing and optimizing the organization's network infrastructure. Designs, implements, and maintains robust and secure networks. Provides technical expertise in the development and implementation of long-range technology solutions. Implements all network upgrades, analyzes and resolves network performance issues, oversees troubleshooting of network devices, and supports IS technical staff.
This is an exempt position in Salary Grade 210: Min $99,935.00 – Mid $119,922.00 – Max $139,909.00 annually. The starting salary will be within this range based on qualifications.

- Leads the design and implementation of scalable and resilient network architectures that align with organizational goals and industry best practices. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions into overall IS strategies.
- Develops and implements comprehensive network security policies and protocols to safeguard against potential threats. Conducts regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, taking proactive measures to address and mitigate risks.
- Monitors network performance, identifies and implements solutions to enhance overall system efficiency. Collaborates with teams to conduct capacity planning and ensure the scalability of the network infrastructure.
- Plans and executes network infrastructure upgrades, ensuring minimal impact on operations. Conducts regular maintenance activities, applying updates and patches to keep the network environment current.
- Understands and applies networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, etc.), and network architectures.
- Maintains familiarity with Wi-Fi technologies and products, including Aruba Access Points and controllers.
- Has a strong understanding of cloud networking concepts and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Maintains and applies in-depth knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, etc.), technologies, and security best practices.
- Understands Network security principles, including firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto, etc.), intrusion detection systems, VPNs (Microsoft Direct Access), and encryption protocols.

- Demonstrates proficiency in project management, including planning and execution of network-related projects.
- Effectively manages complex projects, coordinates with IS technical staff, facilitates clear communication with users regarding changes, and carefully crafts execution plans.
- Maintains detailed and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures. Generates regular reports on network performance, security, and any significant incidents.
- Understands departmental and Agency goals and objectives.
- Organizes and executes IS projects, including planning, budgeting, and implementation.
- Communicates with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including documenting procedures and system changes.

Qualifications:
Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field with a minimum of five years of network administration experience.
