About the Job
We are seeking a full-time Network Automation Engineer in our Olathe, KS location. This role requires strong network engineering expertise and automation skills to enhance operational efficiency and manage complex network environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Python scripting, Ansible automation, and deep knowledge of Cisco networking (routing & switching).
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate network infrastructure
- Design, build, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Python, Flask, and Ansible
- Assist in building automation to streamline IT operations and minimize manual tasks
- Scripting and automation skills utilizing Python
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a proactive mindset
- Design and develop complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance the performance of Garmin’s network
- Identify, analyze, and resolve issues with automation scripts and tools
- Contribute to the improvement of existing automation processes and tools
- Perform and evaluate cost analyses and vendor comparisons from small through large-scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations
- Measure feasibility of various approaches and make recommendations
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Continuously develop technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging network systems and other network technologies
- Communicate effectively regarding system operations and environment changes in a cross-functional setting with business partners as well as non-technical associates
- Adhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
- Understand and avoid capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of network systems
- Ensure that all security requirements are met or exceeded and plan and perform significant version upgrades
- Provide technical input to solution development plans and concept documents and document technical designs and procedures for team library
- Demonstrate understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT-owned solutions
- Design and implement effective monitoring of enterprise systems
- Foresee risks and communicate and mitigate those before problems arise
- Plan and manage technical projects involving other teams
- Recognize and understand technology impacts within the business and contribute to technical research on new technologies, processes, or procedures
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrated ability to learn basic technical concepts independently
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
- Must be detail-oriented, have the ability to work proactively/effectively with minimal supervision, able to prioritize and multi-task independently in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Previous experience working in a team environment
