Description:
Our client is seeking 1 Network Design Field Engineers to join their team for a multi-year to long-term assignment to support Campus Refresh and Network Transformation Projects in the East. Baltimore and DC/Silver Spring areas. The Network Engineering team has 5 engineers that support various projects for the Utility business within our client.
They would like TEKsystems to bring a strong Network Engineer that is expert level with network design, implementation and configuration of Cisco equipment.
This person will be part of the engineering team to assist with the build out of a New Network dedicated to supporting and servicing the utilities within our client. The Network Engineering team has is building out a new Network to help consolidate network services and host core utility applications.(Electric Transmission Application). They would like TEKsystems to bring a strong Network Engineer that has senior level with Cisco Router, Switches to help with the strategy and build out of the network transform effort.
The role would be supporting various network project for the Utilities and Campus refresh efforts in the Baltimore Metro areas as well as supporting PHI Refresh efforts in the DMV area. They are Real-Estate projects where they are implementing or replacing network technologies or replacement of older Cisco network topologies across the regions. This person should have experience Cisco 9K design and implementation experience. This includes refreshes that would include Cisco R-8300-8500's and Meraki 390. This person will assess the sites, work on a SOP plan, work with Cisco and Conquest to validate the upgrades and refreshes. This role is heavy documentation and project based.
This team partners with the Engineering and Architecture team to design & implement new network technologies, configure routers & switches and assist with refresh projects. Also, they are the highest level support for network issues and resolution.
This role will be based in Baltimore with some travel to our client's sites for Network upgrades' involving their Cisco Catalyst 9K series switches. They will be working to upgrade and transform their existing Cisco infrastructure.

Day to Day:
• Joined initially as a senior consultant with responsibility of architecting, optimizing and deploying existing legacy real-time SCADA network and eventual integration into new Smartgrid IP/MPLS network utilizing ALU 7750 P-PEs and 7705 CE using LDP, RSVP-TE and IS-IS as core protocol and MP-BGP to support VPRNs and VPLS
• Tasked with engineering complete segregation of any connectivity between SCADA/real-time network and enterprise network as well as Smartgrid and enterprise
• Re-designed and deployed our client's architecture to ensure seamless failover during failure events
• Designed and deployed end to end connectivity for new Synchrophaser pilot project which provides real-time metrics at substations
• Reviewed existing Smartgrid infrastructure and proposed new architecture that follows industry best practices and fully utilizes IP/MPLS to resolve scalability and reliability concerns present under existing Smartgrid network
• Assisted peers in reviewing deployment strategies within enterprise core and edge as needed
In addition, there is another project needing a network engineer as well. The needs for that are:
Scope of Work:
* Review the proposed design for connectivity between the Corporate LAN/WAN and the PECO Smart Grid Network
* Participate in design discussions.
* Provide hardware estimates as needed
* Order and configure new hardware as needed
* Review proposed services needed for device authentication, configuration, and control in the new network
* Review proposed ports/services needed for device communications
* Engage Operations support teams with Installation plans to support the design as needed
* Engage Operations support teams with notice of the new devices in the network
* Ensure all existing (firewall) hardware acquired by the project team meets our clients standds.
* Ensure all I&O supported hardware meets Operational Turnover requirements prior to Go Live production
