Meta is seeking a forward thinking leader with advanced technical and operational expertise to join the Edge & Network Service (ENS) team. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of data center infrastructure services and lead initiatives to improve reliability, efficiency, and risk management in one of the most dynamic fast-paced networks in the world. The right candidate will enjoy digging into complex problems in order to align and implement technical and business solutions via hands-on network engineering leadership, automation, process improvement, and data analysis. They will also be comfortable in a fast-moving organization working across diverse stakeholders within physical infrastructure, network design, engineering, deployment, and operations, strategy, security, policy, and legal teams to solve urgent and long-term initiatives.

Network Engineer, ENS Strategic Lead Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Provide expert root cause and corrective action leadership to resolve any and all design, deployment, and operational issues found across data center architectures, hardware platforms, and vendor performance.
- Operational Excellence and Team Leadership: This role will own the planning and execution of an organizational-level strategy to deliver operational excellence. As an experienced engineering practitioner within the ENS team you will be expected to drive operational excellence in everything we do by modeling the behavior.
- Innovation: Spearhead research and development of cutting-edge technologies and network topologies to optimize data center evolution and deployment
- Change Management: You will be integral to identifying strategic problems and implementing effective and efficient solutions across highly cross-functional infrastructure teams to include network engineering, logistics, supply chain, compliance, legal, software system engineering, and program management to scale with the rapid expansion of the Meta platform and customer base.
- Collaboration and Partnership: You will work closely and foster relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure issues are being addressed proactively across global sites. You will also participate in cross-organizational design reviews and make recommendations to support operational strategy to include business or technical problems that need to be solved.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Lead team process for network infrastructure within the Data Center. This requires the alignment and synchronization of execution of a long-term vision for large-scale data center network architecture across multiple geographic locations.
- Incident Response: Directly drive work investigating complex technical and process issues on a global scale spanning multiple security and continuity disciplines for infra spanning our global data center footprint during major incidents/site events (SEVs). This will require you to work closely and effectively with a variety of cross functional teams, managed service providers, and third-party vendor partners.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to improve design standards, technical references, training, and processes viasite visits and work cross-functionally with construction, architects, and contractors to validate cabling infrastructure and network builds according to Meta standards
- Travel: International and Domestic travel may be required 25% to 40% of time based on project demand
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of work experience with designing,deploying, and/or operating large-scale data center network infrastructure.
- 10+ years of work experience with structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure including design and installation best practices, industry standards, application and limitations
- 5+ years of work experience partnering with enterprise and service provider network hardware platforms and architectures, such as Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Infinera, Nokia, and Arista platforms
- Knowledge of the data center design, construction, and start up/commissioning processes
- Project Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving large-scale data center projects at strategic and tactical levels.
- Network Protocol Expertise: Demonstrate Intermediate level subject matter expertise in TCP/IP, IPv4/v6, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, and/or MPLS via network certifications, such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, RHCSA or equivalent experience.
- Optical and Transport Expertise: Demonstrate Intermediate level subject matter expertise in terrestrial telecommunication networks including DWDM, network infrastructures, optical testing, and optical measurement principles.
- Experience successfully collaborating across their own team and with cross-functional partners at all levels to include organizational leaders to influence, align, and execute on goals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience partnering with Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs) for network hardware platforms and architectures to engage and translate performance issues into requirements.
- Expert level knowledge of network protocols or Optical and Transport.
- Software Systems Leadership: Experience in organizational and digital transformation initiatives at both the strategic and tactical levels.
- Demonstrate Expert level knowledge of inside/outside plant cable design and working knowledge of dark fiber builds
- Data center design or relevant telecommunications certifications
