Network Engineer II

Job Description

Purpose of Position To design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure components, including analyzing and providing technical support for the network, servers, and overall infrastructure. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of Fortinet firewalls and Cisco networking solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions

• Serves as on team of technical resources for areas involving the network infrastructure and cloud connectivity.

• Design, implement, and maintain network architecture using Fortinet firewalls and Cisco networking solutions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies.

• Serves as a technical resource for other departments and client base in the development and support of applications within the infrastructure.

• Assists with the planning, testing, and implementing new technologies that reside within corporate network; both corporate, remote office locations and cloud resources.

• Document existing and future server and network infrastructure components.

• Collaborates with other Engineers, System/Network/Enterprise Architects, and DBAs to troubleshoot issues and new infrastructure designs.

• Maintains confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network and its components.

• Consults with users in the evaluation of requirements, recommends designs, provides cost analysis, and coordinates tasks for project rollouts.

• Implement and act in accordance with the organization's information security policies.

• Protect assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction, or interference.

• Report security events or potential events or other security risks to the InfoSec department.

• Acts as a positive role model in all aspects of professional performance.

• Observes safety procedures and personnel policies.

Marginal Functions

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• In-depth knowledge of Fortinet firewalls and adjacent solutions

• Expert-level understanding of Cisco networking solutions (L2 and L3)

• Knowledge of security protocols and technologies (SSL/TLS, IPsec, IDS/IPS)

• Understanding of security threats and vulnerabilities

• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, OpenStack)

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure)

• Basic understanding of core Storage Area Networks. (Fiber Channel)

• Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.

• Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize.

• Must possess excellent organizational skills.

• Must be able to proficiently read and write in English.

• Must be able to handle difficult individuals and situations.

• Must be able to make independent judgment decisions with little or no supervision.

• Must be able to see clearly with or without corrective lenses and hear clearly with or without aids.

• Must be able to use hands, fingers and wrists, repetitively, using a computer keyboard and other office equipment, regularly.

• Must be able to stand, sit and move around the building and elsewhere regularly.

• Must be able to reach overhead, bend and squat regularly.

• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. regularly.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and more than 50 lbs. with assistance occasionally.

• Must be able to climb ladders occasionally.

• Must be able to travel via automobile and airplane regularly.

• Implement and act in accordance with the organization's information security policies;

Experience and Education Requirements

Description

Minimum High School or GED High School diploma or GED required.                      Preferred 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or IT preferred.
