Job Description:
We are looking for a full-time Network Engineer expert to join our team in Fitchburg, WI, with the flexibility to consider candidates from Goodyear, AZ. This role requires onsite presence 3-4 days a week and involves a consultative approach to guide the company’s network direction. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Cisco equipment and will be responsible for fielding all questions from Level II Engineers in the absence of an Architect.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Design and implement both short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure network capacity meets current and future requirements.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain network policies and procedures.
- Performance Testing: Create and deploy methodologies for testing network performance, and provide performance statistics and reports.
- Collaboration: Work with partners and vendors to achieve team goals.
- Budget Management: Generate budgets for existing and proposed network projects, services, and hardware.
- Team Leadership: Mentor network team staff, lead, and facilitate the technical work of the team.
- Installation Coordination: Plan, acquire, and coordinate the installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization’s network infrastructure.
- Documentation: Prepare RFPs, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for projects and associated efforts.
- Contract Administration: Administer contracts for network equipment and services.
- Research and Recommendations: Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards to support network procurement and development efforts.
- Vendor Negotiation: Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
- Upgrades Management: Assess, approve, and administer equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
- Capacity Planning: Develop long-term strategies and capacity planning for future network/telecommunication needs.
- Network Management: Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware, including routers, switches, and access points.
- Communication: Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent network activities.
- Problem Resolution: Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of network problems for end users; recommend and implement corrective solutions.
- Backup and Recovery: Perform network system backup and recovery.
- Asset Management: Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

- CCNA/CCNP certification (preferred but not mandatory)
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Some travel required, based on projects and emergency situations (approximately once a quarter).
- Experience with managing networks across multiple locations (30 locations throughout the US, including 3 manufacturing plants and about 30 showrooms).
- On-call duty approximately every 5 weeks.
- Strong emphasis on providing training to employees for skill enhancement.
