The EPS Network Engineer 3 will primarily be responsible for building and supporting the infrastructure and core routing design of commercial network requirements. Additional duties may include performance engineering, real time analysis and optimization of the existing commercial framework. The Network Engineer 3 will interact with various teams to help to develop core software automation rollouts around best practices and standards.

The Network Engineer 3 will interact with various teams to help to develop core software automation rollouts around best practices and standards.
- Engineering, design and support commercial services - data, video, and voice products
- Support the Network Engineering plan of record including execution of business requirements, network strategy and project activity.
- Create and document all high-level and detailed network designs where necessary
- Participate in the development and planning for the roll-out of future hardware and software versions of Commercial network devices.
- Monitor network capacity, plan and implement market augments as necessary
- Model network capacity for failure scenarios to proactively predict routing and topology changes
- Recommend and/or improve best practices and procedures for network installation, maintenance and operation
- Exercise sound judgment during site design, network configuration, and network activation to ensure efficient use of funds and time
- Assist in efforts to automate internal processes/tools for departmental engineering tasks
- Drive towards an environment and architecture where programming networks can replace a model of traditional network configuration.
- Review current workflows and interact with Business Analysts and Engineering team members to look at targeted programmable automation areas of improvement and refinement.
- Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) or MEF defined "Third Network vision
- Order fulfillment, control the delivery of the service, provide performance measurements, service assurance (SLA/SLO), fault tolerance awareness as well as overall usage and forward looking analytics
- Provide On-Call support, as necessary, focused on isolating and resolving network outages
- Communicate applicable design guidelines and provide guidance to markets to ensure compliance
- BS degree required in Information Technology or other technology related field
- 4+ years of hands-on IP router/switch/telephony customer premises equipment
- 3+ years of documented experience in IT design and support.
- Strong understanding of the high level design criteria for managing large data/voice communications networks in a decentralized environment
- CCNP/JNCIP or CCIE/JNCIE certified or equivalent on-the-job experience
- Strong programming, scripting and API experience with any of the following:
- OpenFlow Support for developing standard based virtualized models
- OpenStack Support for open source virtualized platform
- Yang Model NETCONF Support data modeling and overall service parameters
- Tail-F
- Java, Python, Perl
- JSON
- Aptitude and experience with programming the network versus configuring networks.
- Exposure to building frameworks based upon SDN/NFV functionality.
- In depth understanding of Control Plane and Data Plane traffic.
- Solid understanding of IP routing and switching (OSPF and BGP)
- Specific knowledge of Cisco and Juniper routers, especially the 7600, CRS, T-1600, MX960 series is preferred. Broad knowledge of Cisco and Juniper configurations is a plus
- Solid understanding of IPv4, IPv6, Multicast and QOS
- Knowledge of Frame Relay/MPLS/ISDN, etc.
- SIP / H.323 trunking a plus
- Experience dealing with telecom circuit providers a plus
