Position Information

Position Overview

The Network Engineer position oversees the installation, configuration and maintenance of networked information systems and telecommunications systems in HealthStream's 24/7 high-capacity corporate environment. This position provides day-to-day operational support network and telecom infrastructure functions, and should display excellent technical problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of network and telecommunications and strong understanding of LAN/WAN networking.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training

• Install, configure and maintain network services, equipment and devices, production infrastructure systems and devices
  
• Thorough troubleshooting skills
  
• Ability and desire to thoroughly learn new technologies quickly
  
• On-call pager/phone on rotational basis
  
• Off-hours scheduled downtimes that may require overnight work-hours
  
• Occasional travel to datacenters, involving overnight stays (usually no more than 1-2 nights but sometimes longer) required.
  
• Provide Tier II and other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  
• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  
• Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all infrastructure resources, and key processes, reviewing system logs
  
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  
• Contribute to and maintain system standards
  

Qualifications

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar (equivalent years in actual field experience considered.)
  
• Proficiency in Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, BGP, SMTP
  
• Strong experience in Palo Alto firewalls
  
• 5 or more years' experience with networking and telecommunications
  
• Thorough expertise in general switching, routing, firewall, VPN, load balancer and similar technologies
  
• Must have enhanced network and systems troubleshooting skills and works well under pressure while responding to issues reported on production systems, works well under pressure of deadlines and project timelines.
  
• Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCSE a plus, but not required
