Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd level support for network-based issues including virtual private networks, MPLS, routed networks, enterprise backbone, storage area networks, and monitoring networks.
- Provide support for RHD s storage area networks and storage infrastructure in partnership with the IEG Lead.
- Develop solutions for site turn-ups in conjunction with the Technical Support Services team.
- Ensure efficient operation of the enterprise network and provide quarterly metrics using monitoring systems and related tools.
- Work with 3rd party vendors to develop new technologies aimed at improving key technologies like Video Conferencing, telephony, internet, content delivery, and disaster recovery/prevention.
- Maintain superior documentation for all corporate and customer networks and related technologies.Utilize best practices to ensure clean deployments of established switching, routing, and internet/extranet technologies throughout the corporation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network design and/or engineering as well as a minimum of 3 years experience supporting networks of over 200 nodes.
- Strong understanding of routing protocols including RIP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, IGRP, EIGRP, and switching protocols including MSTP, RSTP, and GARP. Experience with VLANs also required.
- Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, or MIS/IT preferred. MCSE or other certification or an additional 3 years enterprise experience can be substituted for a degree.
- Strong communication skills both written and oral.
- Strong documentation and customer service skills, as well as a keen attention to detail are required.
- Ability to take rotational on-call responsibilities that include nights, weekends and holidays
