Network Engineer, Principal I

Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Agile Scrum Teams: Act as a critical contributor in implementing advanced network communications and cybersecurity capabilities. This includes hardware/software selection and infrastructure design to support cybersecurity initiatives.
Network Configuration: Fully develop and configure solutions for networking devices, including firewalls, load balancers, routers, and switches.
Firewall Management: Implement firewall policies in response to requests from administrators across different teams.
Break Fix & O&M: Perform break/fix actions, operations, and maintenance to ensure continuous network performance.
Software Upgrades: Upgrade and maintain network device software to ensure compliance and mitigate vulnerabilities.
ISA Networking Architecture: Sustain and manage ISA networking architecture, ensuring its reliability and efficiency.
Data Center Management: Engage in the physical management of data center hardware, including the racking and de-racking of equipment.
Network Monitoring: Utilize network monitoring and performance tools to monitor network status and respond to real-time issues and tickets.
Documentation & Training: Collaborate with engineering teams to produce high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, test plans, and training materials.
Mandatory Qualifications
U.S. citizenship is required.
Must have an active and current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
Ability to obtain DHS suitability
Must be able to work a first-shift schedule
Must be available for domestic travel as required.
Must support on-site work, with a minimum 20% on-site work requirement
Must have a minimum of 8 years of professional networking experience
Extensive experience in TCP/IP networking, VPN encryption, firewalls, and SNMP-based network management
Advanced troubleshooting experience in Layer 2 functionality and Layer 3 routing protocols within Cisco/Juniper environments
Strong expertise in configuring and troubleshooting IPSEC VPN and firewall architecture
In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols
Proficiency in network monitoring and automation tools for troubleshooting and task simplification
Technical understanding of cybersecurity attack techniques and mitigation strategies
Experience with Juniper firewalls and implementing firewall-based policies
Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure networking and connectivity to on-premises environments
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related discipline
A Master's degree may substitute for two years of experience.
A PhD may substitute for four years of experience.
Alternatively, ten years of experience can substitute for a degree.
Total of 18 or more years

Infrastructure-related certifications
CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA-Junos, JNCIS-SEC
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification
