About the Job
We are seeking a highly motivated Network Engineer for a Hybrid assignment working on-site multiple days/wk. as a member of our Sacramento, California client's team. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable cloud and onsite network infrastructure. You will leverage your expertise in AWS, F5 load balancing, and network routing protocols to ensure optimal application performance and network efficiency.
Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable network architectures within AWS.
* Configure and manage F5 BIG-IP appliances for optimal application performance and load balancing.
* Implement network security controls and best practices within the cloud environment.
* Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and diagnose performance bottlenecks.
* Automate network configuration tasks using scripting languages and IaC tools.
* Collaborate with other engineers and IT teams to ensure network alignment with application and security requirements.
* Participate in capacity planning and resource optimization initiatives.
* Stay up to date on the latest networking technologies and best practices.
Requirements
Must-Have Skills (Networking Experience):
* 5+ years of experience in network administration and engineering.
* Proven experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network solutions in an very large enterprise environment.
* In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.) and network routing best practices.
* Strong understanding of network security principles (firewalls, VPNs, access control lists).
* Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Python, ter) is a plus.
Must-Have Skills (Cloud & Security):
* Demonstrated experience working with AWS cloud services (VPC, EC2, S3, etc.).
* Solid understanding of F5 BIG-IP products and technologies (load balancing, application security).
* Experience with network security best practices in a cloud environment.
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts will be a plus.
Good-to-Have Skills:
* Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, NetFlow etc.).
* Experience with cloud security services (AWS WAF, CloudTrail, etc.).
* Knowledge of network function virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
