GavinHeath is partnering with a client in Reston, VA looking to add a Network Reliability Engineer to their team. The role is a full-time/direct placement position.
Reports to : Manager of Network Reliability
Location: Virginia (Hybrid - Onsite Tuesday/Wednesday), exemplary candidates may have the ability to sit 100% remote
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 with a 10% bonus + company equity

Position Summary:
The Network Reliability Engineer will play a crucial role in advancing automation, scaling, and next-generation initiatives for our partner. This position will focus heavily on Software-Defined Networking (SDN), cloud, and virtualization technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both network and software engineering, particularly within data centers handling networking applications and infrastructure . Python development is required, with Golang being preferred. Additionally, client-facing network troubleshooting experience is a must. This role will be part of a world-class engineering team paving the path for new ways for enterprises to consume ever-increasing cloud services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentorship and Development:
- Train, mentor, and help develop the skills and capabilities of Network Reliability Engineers.
- Customer Experience:
- Be responsible for the quality of the customer experience in production and in the ideation, design, and development of next-generation systems.
- Collaboration:
- Partner with Engineering teams to measure, deliver, and improve both the engineering and customer experience.
- Observability:
- Improve observability via implementation of enhanced monitoring, metrics, logging, and system analytics.
- Automation & Development:
- Build software and systems to manage services and applications through automation, with a focus on Python development (Golang preferred).
- Network Asset Management:
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network components, inventory, and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Network Topology:
- Produce network topology diagrams for existing and new infrastructures for sales, customers, marketing, and other internal needs.
- Client-Facing Troubleshooting:
- Engage directly with clients to troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong background in network and software engineering.
- Extensive experience with data center networking applications and infrastructure.
- Proficient in Python development, with Golang experience preferred.
- Client-facing network troubleshooting experience required.
- Track record of building and running high-performance teams.
- Fundamental understanding of common API concepts and standards as well as aspects of data storage, service status, and session handling.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with workloads within a cloud-based ecosystem, with experience in at least one leading public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong teamwork orientation.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and accountability to deadlines.

Education & Experience:
- 6+ years of experience as a Network Engineer in a service provider network environment, including high-end routing/switching network infrastructure.
- Experience in cloud interconnection.
- Preferred experience in ISP and/or telecommunications companies.
- Preferred experience with cloud computing architectures (IaaS, SaaS, etc.).
- Preferred CCNP certification or equivalent work experience.
- Four-year college/trade education preferred or equivalent work experience.
Team Dynamics:
- Reports to the Manager of Network Reliability.
- Sits on the Network Reliability Engineering team, which consists of 8 members.
