Description
The Network/Security Manager is responsible for leading the network and security architecture team for multiple mission critical enterprise data centers supporting a very large public sector client. The team's primary responsibility is the design, management, and support of a highly redundant, complex enterprise network and security infrastructure supporting thousands of OS platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Client and IBM mainframe/mid-range and AIX/Linux systems. Technologies from Cisco, Juniper, Check Point, Citrix, and other major vendors are used, and the Network Security Manager has responsibility for technical oversight of all engineers supporting these devices.
This role is predominantly a hands off technical management position where the manager will be responsible for overseeing network/security solution design and delivery, customer relationship management, and act as a liaison between the network security service line and other program and company management.
Responsibilities
Management of technical network/security staff including daily work assignments, project prioritization, onboarding/off-boarding, learning and development planning, on-call and other work scheduling, etc.
Work with other technical and program management to align the network security function with ongoing program needs and demand. This includes executive and senior leadership when applicable.
In combination with Account Managers, act as the face of the network security function to the customer, attend customer meetings, and produce customer deliverables when required.
Work with infrastructure/network architects and service delivery team to meet incoming project demand and future technology planning. Responsible for department capital and operational cost expenditure planning and forecasting.
Ensure department is following established ITIL processes required by the program, as well as overall Client business unit/company processes and objectives.
Assess team's process delivery and implement process improvements.
Requirements
Must pass an extensive background check
5+ years in an IT infrastructure management role with direct reports
Proven operational experience with high availability, enterprise data center infrastructure. Preference for network and network security background
Excellent communication skills both oral and written to clearly communicate with clients are a must. Previous experience with customer interaction and management as this will be a customer facing role.
Familiarity with ITIL v3 based service delivery model using change/incident/problem management.
Network/security certifications highly desired (CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, etc.)
