College/University intern hires (must be returning to school a minimum of 1 semester following the internship by the company's definition) undergoing a specific training and development path. As part of a small team of senior developers and system architects, you will develop software models of HPE's next-generation exascale networking fabric called Slingshot. Using these models, you will aid the system architects in the design and the performance evaluation of the network at scale. We are looking for someone with a strong fundamental understanding of how a computer system works, how they are interconnected, with an additional emphasis on object-oriented software design.
Education and Experience Required:
- High School Degree 4th Year of University completed--typically a technical degree specialization (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science).
- Networking architecture: understanding on network devices (NICs, routers) and how they function at the HW level
- Computer architecture: basic CPU blocks and their function, memory subsystem, PCIe architecture
- Large-scale systems (High Performance/Super computing) and how they work collectively
- Worked at the software-to-hardware interface (embedded systems development, driver development, Operating system development)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- C++ experience and strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design
- Strong debugging experience (GDB)
- Python experience
- Git experience
Additional Skills:
- Parallel computing and debugging parallel software experience
- MPI experience
- Pre-existing simulation experience (Structural Simulation Toolkit - SST, Gem5, OMNet, NS2/3)
- Firm understanding of software design patterns
- Worked in large codebases and developed large-scale software
- Jenkins experience
- Jira experience
