Responsibilities:
Monitor, maintain, & support client facing applications as well internal enterprise systems
- Research and resolve problems escalated from Level 1 and Level 2 support
- Troubleshoot, research, and resolve major defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in systems functions, outputs, and content
- Provide Support Leadership in designated support systems
- Focus on driving packaged automation scripts to Level I support and reducing manual work involved in Level II
- Work with peers and vendors to design technical solutions to complex application issues
- Develop and deploy scripts and processes to enable and test Highly Available and Disaster Recovery environments and mechanisms
- Study software documentation to understand our applications business and technical alignment for providing maximum support
- Analyze statistics and Incidents to develop and execute availability improvement plans
- Focus on service restoration and reducing Mean Time To Restoration (MTTR)
- Provide support guidance and direction for Engineer I associates within Production Support Applications
- Provide 24/7 on-call support on rotating schedule including specific designated systems for issues that are escalated from Level 1 and Level 2 support
- System Knowledge Acquisition
- Acquire and master the general skill set required for supporting and restoring services for all management designated applications and system
- Continued comprehension of proprietary systems and subsequent system and procedural updates
- Provide the role of SME for the systems designated by Management
- Perform operational duties that ensure seamless operation of production systems
- Configure and deploy new infrastructure into the production/QA/development environments
- Deploy and/or roll-back new application versions to production/QA
- Perform routine maintenance on application servers and track system performance
- Recognize opportunities for improved process or procedures
Communication/service
- Communicate to the Management about service disruption
- Provide outage and service restoration details to Operations Command Center for degradation statistics and root cause analysis
- Coordinate with other internal organizations to restore service (business, networks, server engineering, database administration, et c.)
- Provide excellent service to all Production Support clients and business partners
- 4 year college degree
- 3-4 years related experience
- 5 years total experience
- Linux administration skills
- Perl and Shell Scripting
- Experience in working with real-time messaging systems
- Experience in working with concurrent and multi-threading applications
- Experience in working with distributed messaging systems and applications
- Experience in working with low-latency and high performing systems
- Experience in debugging Java memory/thread dumps, TCP dumps, OS core dumps
- Strong familiarity in TCP/IP, Socket, RMI and Networking
- Strong familiarity with SQL and Oracle Database administration and operation
- Java and Middleware Software Support Experience
- Strong learning agility, curiosity and problem solving skills
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to act independently with limited supervision within scope of responsibility.
- Leadership skills. Ability to take charge and lead others in service restoration
- Ability to cross train and provide direction for other associates
- Ability to practice Continuous Process Improvement
