The incumbent installs, modifies and maintains a variety of computer hardware, software and peripheral components; diagnoses and resolves end-user network problems, and performs routine backup and restoration of network computing activities while adhering to security protocols and policies. The work is performed under the supervision of a higher level administrator with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out details of the work. Does related work as required.Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per weekSalary: Grade 18, $25.5703-32.3653/HR Location: Information TechnologyStatus: competitive, provisionalBenefits: New York State Retirement System, Low Deductible Health Insurance Plan, Generous Paid Time Off Including 13 Paid Holidays, Tuition Assistance Available After One Year, Eligibility for Public Service Loan ForgivenessMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:(a)Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher in computer science or computer information systems, or closely related field and one (1) year of experience installing, modifying and maintaining a local area network; OR(b)Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience as defined in (a); OR(c)An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).NOTE: Degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, applicant must provide independent verification of equivalency.
