Wolfe Eye Clinic is searching for a well-qualified BC/BE neuro-ophthalmologist to join our practice in West Des Moines, IA. Wolfe Eye Clinic is the largest ophthalmology clinic in the Des Moines metro area and the State of Iowa. The Wolfe Eye Clinic West Des Moines professional staff includes very busy and well-experienced fellowship-trained subspecialists in cornea, retina, glaucoma, oculo-plastics, and pediatric/adult strabismus subspecialties. Wolfe Eye Clinic is committed to being the first practice in Central Iowa to bring neuro-ophthalmologists aboard to serve a population of over a million, that otherwise are required to travel significant distance out of Central Iowa to get subspecialized neuro-ophthalmology diagnosis and treatment.
The ideal candidate should be fellowship trained and experienced in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurological conditions and disorders that affect the visual system. The neuro-ophthalmologist would have substantial support from all other subspecialties in establishing and serving this client base. The successful candidate will have a desire to be on the ground floor of building a subspecialty practice within Wolfe Eye Clinic’s well-established clinic supported by a very loyal outside referral network.

We are Iowa's largest ophthalmology clinic and have 30 ophthalmologists based in 13 main offices across the state. Our sub-specialists include 3 glaucoma, 6 retina, 6 cornea, 1 pediatric/adult strabismus, and two ocular plastics surgeons. We also have 10 anterior segment surgeons and 15 staff optometrists. We have an additional 9 optometrists based in primary eye care clinics. Wolfe Eye Clinic has always been committed to bringing the latest technology and treatments to the citizens of Iowa. Annually we see over 250,000 patients and perform approximately 28,000 major surgeries and another 80,000 minor procedures. We have an active research department participating in studies and FDA trials helping to improve patient care and innovation. Our doctors work with a very skilled clinical support staff that allows them to concentrate on patient care and minimizes their time spent on related administrative duties or paperwork. Overall, we have a team of 450+ staff that are dedicated to bringing the most advanced eye care to the residents of Iowa. We have always maintained a strong, modern relationship with our large network of referring optometrist colleagues.
Our Clinic has been in operation for over 100 years and all ophthalmologists, who have established careers here, have enjoyed a fulfilling practice both financially and professionally. Our average physician compensation is typically in the top 10% nationally in each subspecialty. The practice has equal ownership across the physician staff and is managed on a democratic basis with one vote per physician. These arrangements have created an environment that all Wolfe physicians have found very appealing and rewarding.
