Job Title: News Anchor
WINK News, the trusted news leader in Southwest Florida, is seeking a dynamic and experienced News Anchor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong on-air presence, exceptional storytelling skills, and the ability to connect with our audience. This position requires someone who is committed to delivering accurate, compelling, and impactful news content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Anchor weekday newscasts, ensuring accurate and engaging delivery of news stories.
- Collaborate with producers, reporters, and other newsroom staff to develop and present news content that resonates with our audience.
- Write and edit news scripts for accuracy, clarity, and conciseness.
- Participate in editorial meetings to discuss story ideas, provide input.
- Engage with viewers through social media platforms.
- Represent WINK News at community events and public appearances, fostering positive relationships with viewers and stakeholders.
- Stay informed about local, national, and international news events, maintaining a high level of journalistic integrity and ethics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a News Anchor or Reporter in a medium to large market.
- Exceptional on-air presence with strong vocal delivery and presentation skills.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle breaking news situations calmly and effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the Southwest Florida region and its key issues and events is a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
